Tips for Making Artificial Snow Ahead of Christmas

Christmas is synonymous with merrymaking and being enveloped in the cold of snow. However, as we all know, Indonesia has no  winter season. One way to create a snowy Christmas atmosphere is to add a touch of artificial snow around your home. Here are some simple tips on making artificial snow.

1. Prepare Basic Materials
   Before you start making artificial snow, prepare baking soda, blue or white food coloring, water, and cornstarch.
2. Determine the Right Workspace
   Making artificial snow can be a bit messy. Therefore, prepare a room that is spacious enough and easy to clean. 
3. Mix the Basic Ingredients
   • Mix 3 to 4 cups of baking soda with about half to one cup of water.
   • Add blue or white food coloring to your liking, mixing thoroughly.
   • If the mixture is too wet, add more baking soda to taste. On the other hand, if it's too dry, add water a little at a time.
   • You can also add a cup or two of cornstarch for a more snow-like texture.
4. Make Snow Shapes
   The blended base ingredients can be shaped into snowballs. Instead of balls, you can also make the snow mixture into cones or small snow piles.
5. Let it Dry
   Let the molded artificial snow dry for a few hours. Once the texture turns hard and touchable, the drying process is successful.
6. Additional Touches
   Add glitter to the dried artificial snow to give it a sparkling effect. With the addition of glitter, the artificial snow will sparkle and match perfectly  with the Christmas tree.
