If Indonesia is Having a Rainy Season, Here's What's Happening in These Four Countries

As Indonesia enters the rainy season, some countries in other parts of the world may experience very different seasons. Differences in geographical location and climate make the seasons in different countries around the world sometimes different. Here are four countries with ongoing seasons, while Indonesia is in the rainy season.

  1. Australia – Summer
In Australia, Indonesia's rainy season usually coincides with summer, which runs from December to February. As a country in the southern hemisphere, Australia experiences seasonal changes in contrast to countries in the northern hemisphere. In summer, temperatures in Australia can reach 30-40°C, especially in inland areas such as the Northern Territory and western Australia. Summer in Australia is a popular time for locals and tourists to take a beach vacation and celebrate the Christmas and New Year holidays.
  2. South Africa – Summer
While Indonesia experiences the rainy season, South Africa enters summer, which runs from December to February. Just like Australia, South Africa is in the southern hemisphere, so summer occurs when countries in the northern hemisphere experience winter. Temperatures in South Africa in summer can reach 25-35°C, with warm and dry weather conditions in most areas. Cape Town and Johannesburg usually experience sunny summers, and this time is perfect for nature trips, including visiting Kruger National Park for wildlife viewing or enjoying the beautiful beaches along the west and east coasts.
  3. United States (North) – Winter
In the United States, especially in the northern parts such as New York, Chicago, and Boston, winter lasts from December to February, at the same time as the rainy season in Indonesia. During this season, temperatures in some areas can drop to below zero degrees Celsius, with snow covering most areas. Winter in the United States is synonymous with activities such as skiing, snowboarding, and the tradition of celebrating Christmas with snow. In some major cities, extreme temperatures and snowstorms can occur, making daily life more challenging at times.
  4. Japan – Winter
Japan also experiences winter, which lasts from December to February. During this season, northern regions such as Hokkaido, Tohoku, and the mountains of Honshu experience extremely cold temperatures with frequent heavy snowfall. Japan is known for its high-quality ski resorts, so winter is a popular time for tourists to visit ski spots such as Niseko, Hakuba, and Sapporo. However, in the southern region of Japan, such as Okinawa, the temperature tends to be warmer, although it remains cold.  Winter in Japan is also famous for its snow festivals, such as the spectacular Sapporo Snow Festival.

The seasons in other countries vary greatly and are the opposite of the rainy season in Indonesia. In Australia and South Africa, for example, summer is in full swing, while in the northern United States and Japan, winter is filling their days. This diversity of the world's seasons gives each country a different experience, from exciting winter activities to the excitement of warm summers.
