Tahukah Anda? - Pentingnya Surat Laporan Kepolisian dalam Pengajuan Klaim Asuransi Semua Risiko Benda Bergerak

In submitting a general insurance claim, the Insured must submit several requirements according to the agreement stated in the policy contract. For the submission of a claim to be approved immediately, these requirements must be completely and factually submitted by the Insured to the insurance company immediately. These requirements usually include the evidence of loss, such as photographs, certificates or minutes of the loss, contract agreement/insurance policy, identity of the policy holder, and other supporting documents.

For the type of theft loss and theft with forcible entry or bodily injury, insurance companies require documents issued by certain competent and authorized institutions or bodies to corroborate the insured's statement related to the facts that occurred in the field, namely the Police Report. This provision refers to the Movable Property All Risk Insurance (MPAR) policy wording mentioned in CHAPTER III - GENERAL CONDITIONS as follows:

Article 10 Clause 1.3
“In case the Property Insured has been stolen, to notify the competent police authorities to that effect without delay.”

Article 11 Clause 1.2
"In the event that property has been stolen, a certificate issued by the authorized police or other equivalent document."

A Police Report, according to the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHP/KUHAP) Article 1 Clause 24 is a notification report submitted by a person due to a right or obligation under the law to an authorized official about a criminal event that has occurred or is occurring or is suspected of occurring. Anyone who has the right or obligation, namely everyone who experiences, sees, witnesses, and/or is a victim of a criminal offense, has the right to submit  a report or complaint to initial police investigator and investigator either orally or in writting.

How to Make a Police Report:

  1. Go to the nearest police station where the crime occurred, such as the Headquarters of the Republic of Indonesia Police (MABES POLRI), Regional Police (POLDA), Resort Police (POLRES), and Sector Police (POLSEK).
  2. Report to the Integrated Police Service Centre (SPKT Department).
  3. Fill in the Police Report form.
  4. Describe the chronology of the criminal offense you experienced or witnessed. The police will conduct an initial review to assess whether or not a Police Report should be made.
  5. Provide evidence to support your report, if any.
  6. Keep the Police Report receipt.

The reporting party can then wait because based on the report and investigation warrant, the police will carry out the investigation process. If the reported event is a criminal offense, then based on the Police Report and investigation warrant, the investigation process is carried out.

Specifically for the guarantee of theft with forcible entry or bodily injury in addition to the Police Report, the Insured party is required to provide the insurance party with evidence of damage incurred or physical injury. This refers to the policy condition that the Insurer is not responsible for damage arising from theft without forced entry and/or exit. For example, damage to doors, windows, or injuries to the body due to attempts to resist the act of theft.
